Why ADAS Calibration Matters
Modern vehicles rely on Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)—including lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic-sign recognition, and automatic emergency braking—to keep drivers safe. These systems depend on forward-facing cameras, radar modules, and lidar sensors mounted on or near the windscreen. If the windscreen is replaced or disturbed without recalibrating these sensors, the vehicle’s ADAS features can become misaligned, leading to:
- Compromised Safety: Misaligned sensors may fail to detect lane markings or obstacles, reducing the effectiveness of emergency braking and lane-centering functions.
- Insurance & Warranty Issues: Insurers often require proof of post-replacement calibration before approving claims. OEM warranties may be voided if calibration procedures aren’t followed.
- Driver Confidence: A correctly calibrated system restores full functionality, giving drivers peace of mind and preserving the value of ADAS features.
